Our female hormonal cycle is an intricate, interconnected dance of chemical messages and shifting energies, signaling miraculous processes in the body - every minute of every day of every month! When we consciously align with our changing chemistry - rather than ignoring, or merely enduring it - we build health, resilience, inner calm, and well-being.
In this workshop, theories from both Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Western medical model contribute to our understanding of the physiological processes of the menstrual cycle. Holistic health coach Maia DeSanti offers an in-depth look at what’s happening in the bodymind each week of the cycle and what we can do to work with those processes instead of against them - to experience a greater sense of ease and flow throughout the month. Learn how to tune into and support the changing rhythms of your female cycle with phase-appropriate foods, exercise, and lifestyle choices.
Maia is joined by yoga teacher Patrice Seko, who will lead participants in the movement segments of the workshop. The training is interactive and includes time for group discussion and questions and a chance to sample seasonal, cycle-supportive foods. Participants will go home with notes, recipes and resources for further exploration.
Maia DeSanti, HHC: Maia has nurtured a lifelong interest in the healing arts and began sharing her passion for culinary medicine long before deciding to pursue a career in health and wellness. Her formal learning, independent study, and personal health practice has centered on somatic awareness, plant medicine, organic gardening, the mind-body connection, and the ancient healing traditions of classical Chinese medicine. A graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, she loves teaching people about food energetics, using food as medicine and adopting a lifestyle in harmony with the rhythms and cycles of nature.
